i used proactive off and on for about 2 years at first it worked wonderfully then it started making my face look rugged. and uneven.. so i only started using it everyother day when cystic acne formed (which takes forever to get rid of) i will never use practiv again

I used Proactiv for 5+ years. In the beginning it was like a god send. my face was clear and healthy... then during the middle I noticed that it seemed like there was something wrong UNDER my skin... the last 2 years I spent struggling with the fact that proactiv only made the surface healthy. when in fact huge cysctic pimples were forming under neath. THen the areas of skin right next to my nose turned red. they were always red. and my face was ALWAYS oily... (yes to bleached towels and shirts as well)... so I weaned myself off of it a month or 2 before my wedding.. then hit it hard 2 weeks before (so I'd have nice skin for that all important day).

Overall, it was way to expensive and only helped the surface.. in the end I have scarring and can't find ANYTHING that will work to relieve my acne. perhaps the skin addictive ingredients theory is correct...

Like the other two comments above stated; this product only worked for a short while, and made my skin extremely greasy.

I am positive Proactiv contains skin addictive ingredients. I even refer to it as "skin crack" because if you stop using it for a few days your skin blows up, so it is best to ween your skin off over a few months to avoid massive flare ups.

I also did not like the fact that it bleached all my towels, and the necklines of my shirts.

This product seems to make your skin addicted to it. It makes you breakout and im not sure that it even helps all that much. i felt that it was a waste of money and it even bleached my bathroom towel!!!!

I was conned by Proactiv. It only works for a while until everything just gives up, even though I saw the pretty (but cheesy-music sounding) cermercials and even saw the medication in my sister's bathroom. The toner is good but the wash doesn't "feel" much and the lotion actually made my face greasy looking and shiny. ._.'
